Matteo Alemany, the sports director of the Spanish club Barcelona, pledged to Juan Laporta, the president of the Catalan club, not to transfer any player from Xavi Hernandez’s squad to the Aston Villa squad, the next team of the sports director.
Alemany assured Juan Laporta that he would not sign any Barcelona player as a measure of respect for the club he was working for and with whom he is still linked as his contract expires on June 30. His commitment to Barcelona continues until the end of the current season.
Alemany will become the new sporting director of Aston Villa, one of the Premier League teams, and the option to sit Alemany and Laporta has been considered to negotiate the departure of Ferran Torres, who has been placed on the transfer list by Barcelona.
Ferran has a market in the Premier League after passing through Manchester City. Aston Villa even considered the possibility of signing Torres for 40 million euros.
Another player who has been on Aston Villa’s radar is Ansu Fati, a player Alemany doesn’t seem to be betting too much on. Thus, Alemani will not go to Ferran Torres or Ansu Fati.
